Meet Vicky Anderson
Our candidate for Blaydon and Consett is Vicky Anderson.
In 2019 I was first elected as a Councillor in Gateshead and I am currently one of 18 Liberal Democrats on the Council.
As a Councillor I have represented residents speaking on how we can tackle the cost of living crisis and issues close to my heart such as women’s rights and diversity and inclusion. Alongside campaigners and Councillors I have worked on projects and campaigns in the wider areas of Blaydon and Consett, as well as in my own ward.
I am honoured to have been chosen to represent Blaydon and Consett, and as your MP I would continue to listen to your views and demand change.

Vicky’s campaigns
These are some local, national and international issues that Vicky and the Lib Dems have campaigned on in the past 24 months:
- Save Shotley Bridge Hospital! Vicky supports the call made by Consett North Councillor Kathryn Rooney and Consett South Councillor Dominic Haney for the government to fully fund the budget shortfall for Shotley Bridge Hospital’s replacement.
- Vicky supports the steps taken by Ryton Liberal Democrat campaigner Steve Kelly to call for more action needed on flytipping. She is also campaigning with Steve to ensure consultations are conducted before changes are made, such as the new crossing on Cushy Cow Lane.
- SAVE OUR NHS!
- Invest in infrastructure, innovation and skills to create good jobs and prosperity in every UK region and nation.
- End the cost of living crisis! Help people with the cost of living and their energy bills.
- STOP THE SEWAGE DUMPING SCANDAL! Water companies need to clean up their own mess andstop dumping sewage in our water.
- Make taxes fair, ensuring that tax burdens don’t fall disproportionately on low earners.
