I came to the UK to study archaeology at Durham University in 2004, moved to Pelaw in 2008, became a British citizen in 2013, and was elected to the Council in 2022.

I am particularly interested in the environment and sustainable transport and have been involved in litter picking, community allotment and gardening projects, and other efforts to make Pelaw and Heworth cleaner and greener.

I have worked as a professional archaeologist on sites across the UK and USA, and I occasionally work as a freelance copy editor. As well as council work I am a regular volunteer at Jarrow Hall, where I have been taking part in heritage craft skills workshops, helping to build timber structures using traditional tools, and teaching visitors about experimental archaeology.

I was first elected to the Council for the old Pelaw & Heworth Ward in 1999, serving till 2012. I was then re-elected to the Council in 2016 and again in 2021. I have lived in the area since 1971, and attended Brandling Street Primary, Wardley School, and and finally Heworth Grange Comprehensive.

I worked in the Civil Service from 1984 to 2012. I am now retired from work and devote my energies to serving the ward.

I have served as councillor for the ward since 2019. I have lived in the area for over 30 years with my partner Susan, and I know people all over Gateshead through 38 years of working at Bookers.

I am well-known for helping not just the people of Pelaw, Heworth & Bill Quay but anybody that reaches out to me. I am particularly concerned about anti social behaviour and crime throughout Gateshead, and I have attended many meetings with Police on this topic.

As a keen Gateshead FC fan I am deeply disappointed that the Council’s actions with Gateshead International Stadium have cost the club their chance to advance, and I have spoken out on the closures of leisure centres across Gateshead.
